Herb Reith: Solo Exhibition

CCU"s Department of Visual Arts presents "Herb Reith: Solo Exhibition" in the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery on campus. Though firmly grounded in the painting tradition, Reith's work also explores notions of repair, material significance and disjuncture. These abet the strong non linear storytelling component of his work. "The mixed media materials I work with have a strong significance for me and enter at various times into my history." The Bryan Gallery is located in Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, is free and open to the public monday through friday, except for university holidays.

Manners Classes for Children

The Palmetto School of Etiquette is now accepting students for classes beginning July 17th. Classes are designed for children between the ages of 6 to 14. Instruction is presented by Susan Swink, who is certified to teach by the International School of Protocol in Baltimore MD. Tuition is $150 for the five week mini-finishing school and $50 is due when you register. The fee includes all class materials and the five-course fine dining class at a local upscale restaurant. Classic Images: PHotography by Ansel Adams

On display through mid-September at the Art Museum in Myrtle Beach is Classic Images: 72 black-and-white photographs by American photographer and icon Ansel Adams. The photographs were taken between 1921 and 1968 and were printed by Adams personally for his daughter. The collection is one of his Museum Sets, a portfolio Adams conceived in the 1970's as the best images from his career. Landscapes from several national parks dominate the group and are complemented by a variety of close-up nature shots, portraits, and architectural scenes.

Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture Exhibition “Kent Ullberg: A Retrospective”

This is a traveling retrospective exhibit of 48 pieces by Kent Ullberg, widely recognized as one of the world's leading wildlife sculptors. The works give insight into Ullberg's sense of design and mechanics and also include smaller sculptures of unique and delicate beauty. Pieces in the exhibition span from Owl (1969) to Archipenko’s Heron (2004), and include Wind in the Sails, a 1999 stainless steel sculpture that stands in Stockholm, Sweden
